Chicken Hero

By: Uyi Osifo

Cleanliness (See “About” for scale): Very Clean (Content to consider: mention of blood, mention of poop, drinking, bullying, and religion.)

2.5 Stars

Uyi Osifo has a pretty amazing memory. Chicken Hero is a unorganized, random collection of the author’s memories from when he lived in Nigeria.

I enjoyed some of the humorous stories and seeing his culture as a child, but I also felt weird reading it. It was like I was reading someone’s diary and intruding on their personal life. This book seemed perfect for his family to read and enjoy, but I don’t think it was necessarily a good read for strangers.

One thing I truly didn’t understand was why the author changed his name to Zack in the stories. I thought that was pretty odd.

I didn’t really enjoy this collection of thoughts. It had some nice moments, but it just wasn’t for me.

~I was sent a free ecopy of this book from the author for an honest review~
