It’s a Bright World to Feel Lost In

“Are you feeling a little lost? Got that ‘left in the spare room’ emptiness about you? Mawson does too.”

This is a picture book for adults written by a teddy bear… Yes, you read that right. I had no idea what to expect going into this, but it intrigued me.

Mawson Bear’s book was a whole lot sadder than I ever thought it would be. It was basically a how-to manual for teddy bears. This book taught how to love and explore, but not be sad when they leave you behind. I got way too many Toy Story 3 feelings, and even though it ended upbeat, I still was sad!

The photos were all very cute and well-done. I enjoyed looking at what all the bears were doing. I didn’t necessarily like the style of the book (everything but the cover looked self-published even though it wasn’t), but I liked what they did with some of the words.

You might be able to really connect to the deeper meaning of this book (depression, anxiety, abandonment), but all I could see was a sad book written to teddy bears by a teddy bear. It was interesting, but not my cup of tea.

~I was sent a free copy of this book from the author’s human for an honest review~
