Claws, Paws, Feathers, and Jaws: Impeccable Petunia Part 1

By: Katie Christine

Cleanliness (See “About” for scale): Slightly Tainted (Content to consider: Violence)

4.5 Stars

What an interesting, interesting book this is! To be honest, the main reason I picked up this book is because it is based around a chicken. I absolutely adore chickens and couldn’t help comparing my flock to the characters in Christine’s book. The world-building is fantastic, and the details made the story truly come to life.

Petunia is quite a sophisticated chicken. To me, the best way to describe Impeccable Petunia Part 1 would be to call it a chicken soap opera – drama everywhere! Who knew a chicken’s life could have so much political tension or that hens can have a thing for interior design? The story involved a bit more blood and violence than I first expected, but I truly enjoyed reading it.

This book is a fun read to pick up. Although this may appear to be a children’s book at first glance, the story and the extensive vocabulary seemed to me to aim more for middle school or older. I would recommend it for any of my fellow chicken owners out there! I can’t wait to read and review part 2! Petunia is a little chicken who can definitely steal your heart.

Chickens have basic needs: “food, shelter, and gossip!”
