This book is definitely for hard-core fantasy lovers. It’s a fairly stereotypical fantasy novella, but not in a bad way. The world reminded me somewhat of Lord of the Rings (although the maps at the beginning made me think of a video game).

Nikkola, the main character, was developed well over the story. I enjoyed her character and found all the rest very likable! I also liked the elements of women empowerment that were sprinkled in.

Blood Ties is the second book in the Noble of Blood series. I haven’t read the first one, but this story seems to stand well on it’s own. This isn’t the best book I’ve ever read; but it easily hooked me in and left me hanging at the end.
